Carina Filemyr

Carina Filemyr is a 2023 graduate of Muhlenberg College, where she majored in Neuroscience and minored in Creative Writing. She was involved at her school’s writing center, where she tutored students from all disciplines and experience-levels. Carina completed an internship with a campaign in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. She was an editor and contributor for her school’s literary journal, The Muhlenberg Academic Review. She graduated Magna Cum Laude, was a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honors Society, and was a Dana Scholar.

While in school, Carina recognized that she was energized by the work of language. How ideas and information are explained, she realized, dictated the ways they’re received and applied. She noticed this in General Chemistry while learning about electron configurations: she struggled understanding her professor’s explanation, but could easily grasp the concept when her peer tutor explained it. She was inspired by the possibility afforded by this work.

Carina is currently living in Cape May, New Jersey. She enjoys traveling, reading, and hiking (although she frequently gets lost).
