Every month, the Halpern Law Firm highlights a team member in the Halpern Spotlight. This month, we spoke with Trust Claims Specialist Laura Mourton!
About Laura
From Washington, Laura has always been drawn to medicine and the medical field. Her educational pursuits include majoring in children’s education and medical coding. She has a love for languages and working with people. Her career has taken her down many different paths, but she always wanted to go back and help others: “I was working as an office manager, and I missed working with clients and attorneys and getting more compensation for clients.”
Laura has been with the Halpern Law Firm for just over three months and began working in the legal field around 3 and a half years ago. Helping mesothelioma victims receive compensation is not new to Laura, as she began working as a trust claims specialist at one of the largest mesothelioma firms in the U.S. at the beginning of her career.
What Helping Mesothelioma Victims Means to Laura
When asked about why helping others is important to her, Laura shared a personal connection to these victims: “My dad had lung cancer, and after he passed away and I started filing claims and working with clients. It connects me to him. We didn’t have anyone to help us, so I want to be the person who can help other people.” Laura’s admirable dedication to justice for clients drives her to do the best she can in their cases.
Laura is there for any client that may need her. Her expertise in bankruptcy and trust claims make her a valuable resource for anyone navigating the legal process of filing a claim. Her relationships with clients mean a lot to her. She wants to make sure that clients know they are being taken care of and fought for, saying “to connect with clients and doing everything in my power to get them what they truly deserve—its really rewarding.”
