February’s Halpern Spotlight shines on Client Relations Specialist Emily Scott! Emily is a recent graduate of The University of Maryland, where she studied psychology and public policy. In her free time, she likes to listen to podcasts, work out, and travel to see her friends. She’s also an avid fan of Taylor Swift and the Philadelphia Eagles! Emily has been a part of the Halpern Law Firm team since June of 2024.
When asked about what drew her to work in the legal field, Emily said “I took a few law classes in undergrad and always enjoyed them. During the interview process, both Dave and Jordan’s passion and enthusiasm for the work the firm does was very apparent and definitely made me want to work with them.” Emily’s dedication to fulfilling the Halpern Law Firm’s goal of bringing due compensation to asbestos victims makes her a valuable addition to the team!
Emily works with settlements and releases. Specifically, her role calls for her to get releases to clients, defense, and then ensuring the defense pays their settlement. Emily says, “Defense doesn’t have much incentive to pay [their settlement] on time, so I make sure to remind them frequently.” Emily advocates for clients by communicating with companies to make sure they send settlement checks on time.

Emily is the go-to point of contact for many of the Halpern Law Firm’s clients. She is well-versed in the settlements processes and keeps clients updated on their cases. On working with victims of asbestos exposure, Emily says “this process is a lot for anyone to deal with, so being a person who you can call to get answers to your questions feels nice.” Emily works to answer any questions clients may have regarding the status of their settlements or checks.
Emily enjoys working with clients and getting them compensated for their disease: “hearing from our clients directly definitely motivates you to work hard for them and it’s nice to know the person behind the case—it makes it more personal.” She finds it fulfilling to see clients get the compensation that they deserve for their illness.
