Our Senior Litigation Paralegal, Wilda Carden, obtained an education in accounting and general business from Kerr’s Business College. Wilda began working in the legal field as an accounting clerk and administrative assistant. She quickly began training as a Paralegal, which led her to obtain a Paralegal Certificate from the Professional Career Development Institute.

With over 36 years of experience in the legal field, she has spent most of her career focusing on asbestos litigation. Wilda has broad experience with personal injury in the area of asbestos, as well as other complex litigation cases in many State and Federal courts. She has extensive experience managing litigation matters from case inception and investigation through trial preparation and case resolution.

Wilda’s depth of experience has made her effective as a mentor in training other staff, establishing firm procedures, and supporting the firm’s attorneys on a broad range of client matters. She is great with people and establishing rapport with clients, witnesses, and other firm contacts. Wilda excels in many areas, including conducting research, managing document procurement and organization, overseeing discovery processes, coordinating with experts, and preparing and organizing exhibits and demonstratives for trial.

After losing her husband to an asbestos-related illness in 2019, her passion for advocating for those suffering from illness and loss due to asbestos exposure intensified. Realizing the firm’s shared commitment, she accepted a remote position with the Halpern Law Firm in 2021 and works from her home in South Carolina.

She is an animal care advocate and enjoys participating in local family and children’s service programs such as the “Secret Santa” initiative. In her leisure time, she loves reading, spending time with family and friends, meeting new people, and taking trips to California to visit her son and his family.
